There are a staggering number of wireless audio choices. While many use Wi-Fi, AirPlay, or NCF to stream music, Bluetooth remains the go-to technology of choice. Aside from the major improvements in audio quality (crisp and clear), range (100 meters or more), and battery life (up to 12 hours straight), but there are also speakers to satisfy every type of listeners. We checked out the contenders and arrived at these four outstanding models.
1.JBL Flip 4
JBL’s Flip line of Bluetooth speakers have long been a favourite of many, and its latest Flip 4 is no exception. CNET found that it improved on the Flip 3 more or less across the board, including better sound, battery life, and waterproofing. The speaker’s all-fabric enclosure (available in seven different colours) also makes it easy to grip and adds a layer of durability as well.
2.UE Roll 2
The Roll 2 is a standout if portability and durability is an area of top concern. It’s rugged, waterproof, small, and lightweight without sacrificing sound or battery life (a promised nine hours on a full charge). An additional small but stretchy bungee cord on the back also makes it easy to attach to just about anything.
3.B&O Play Beoplay A1
If you’re looking for high-end sound from a portable speaker, the Beoplay A1 from Bang & Olufsen may be just what you’re after. PCMag found that it delivered “probably the most accurate, powerful bass response” they’ve heard in a Bluetooth speaker. B&O also promises an impressive 24 hours of battery life at normal volume levels.
4.Bose Soundlink Revolve+
Bose’s SoundLink Revolve+ certainly isn’t one of the more budget-minded Bluetooth speakers around, but it won’t disappoint if you’re looking to get the best sound in a portable package. You’ll get an ample 16 hours of battery life and a full 360 degrees of sound from the cylindrical speaker.
